Google Chrome- The New Age Internet Browser
For those who keep abreast of Google’s latest announcements you may be aware Google released to the public yesterday outlining Googles new internet browser - Google Chrome.
First off, Google Chrome is not just your average web browser, it has been designed from the ground up to work with todays applications. To do this it runs every new object through a new process. Oppose this to current browsers which run a single process for everything.
This gives three major benefits to you the internet browser-
Speed - Instead of things loading one at a time Google Chrome streamlines the downloading of webpages by assigning processes to each and every element
Stability - If something crashes, usually a java script, it normally closes every single window and tab you were browsing, with Google Chrome if you suffer a crash it will only crash that elements process, meaning only one tab/window will close!
Resources - In current browsers a single process picks up and manages a single block of memory in your system. Slowly but surely as you close and open items this increases in size as fragments of data do not get removed from your system. In Google Chrome because you are running several processes with several memory assignments your computer can easily clean up your memory every time you close a webpage.
Technically the Pros for Google Chrome
- JavaScript, V8 Virtual Machine
* Special Tabs specially for Google Chrome
* Auto-completion address bar
* Speed Dial feature by Google Chrome
* Privacy mode
* Security to fight malware and phishing attempts
Cons Against Google Chrome
- Most new browser or software products have significant bugs or security flaws that need to be ironed out and these only get discovered when they are released to the general public. Look at Microsoft, who are notourious for doing this and leave consumers open to hacking attacks.
2. Do we really need an open source web browser and will providing one simply mean that unscrupulous hackers will try to exploit unknowledgeable internet users?
Rest assured this would be one of the areas people would be closely watching for.
